Name: Celigion Dularan

Race: Lemurian

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 180

Hair: Brown

Eyes: Gray

DOB June 2, 1992

Physical Appearance: Celigion, or Cel to his friends, is from Lemuria,  the twin to Atlantis.  He could pass for human at a quick glance, a subtly handsome man with an exotic guy next door look rather than a leading man face. His hair is the color of dark roast coffee beans, and he wears it medium long. A few strands will frequently fall across his forehead, giving him a devil may care look.

His eyes are gray.  Normally, they are light, almost silver-gray, but they can shift in hue based on his mood.  When angry, or frightened they can darken to slate, and when excited about something they become blue-gray.

He is well muscled with defined abs and a six-pack, but he’s lean and wiry, looking more like a swimmer or dancer rather than a weight-lifter.

A closer inspection will reveal a few subtle differences.  First, he is amphibious with a set of gills and can breathe underwater, just as well as he can breathe air.  Second, there is webbing between his fingers and toes.  It’s harder to notice the webbing between his fingers than between his toes where it is more pronounced.  Third, and most subtle of all, something that only a lover or an ophthalmologist would notice.  There is a membrane over his eyes that protects him when he is deep under the water.

He has a pretty eclectic taste in clothing.  At home in more casual settings, he dresses in the traditional clothing of his people, which resembles what a lord or lady of a Renaissance court might wear.  In more formal settings, he’ll wear traditional human clothing.  On the weekends, or when he is alone or it’s just him and his boyfriend Yuri, he’ll wear things like jeans and polo or thermal shirts.  He almost never needs to wear a coat, even when most people are bundled up.

Personality: He feels called to serve a greater purpose in life. Thoughtful and idealistic, he strives to have a positive impact on other people and the world around him. He is rarely shy away from an opportunity to do the right thing, even when doing so is far from easy.

He is a born leader and his passion and charisma allow him to inspire others in many areas of their life, including their relationships. Few things bring him a deeper sense of joy and fulfillment than guiding friends and loved ones to grow into their best selves.

He tends to be vocal about his values, including authenticity and altruism. When something strikes them as unjust or wrong, he speaks up. But he rarely comes across as brash or pushy, as his sensitivity and insight guide him to speak in ways that resonate with others.

He has an uncanny ability to pick up on people’s underlying motivations and beliefs. At times, he may not even understand how he comes to grasp another person’s mind and heart so quickly. These flashes of insight can make him quite a persuasive and inspiring communicator.

His secret weapon is his purity of intent. Generally speaking, he is motivated by a sincere wish to do the right thing rather than a desire to manipulate or have power over other people. Even when he disagrees with someone, He searches for common ground. The result is that he can communicate with eloquence and sensitivity that are nearly impossible to ignore – particularly when he speaks about matters that are close to his heart.

Getting Involved

When He cares about someone, he wants to help solve that person’s problems – sometimes at any cost. The good news is that many people are grateful for his assistance and advice. After all, there’s a reason he has a reputation for helping others improve their lives.

But getting involved in other people’s problems isn’t always a recipe for success. He tends to have a clear vision of what people can or should do in order to better themselves, but not everyone is ready to make those changes. If he pushes too hard, his loved ones may feel resentful or unfairly judged. And he is known for being insightful, even he sometimes misreads a situation or unwittingly gives bad advice.

Leading the Way

He is a devoted altruist, ready to face slings and arrows in order to stand up for the people and ideas that he believes in. This strength of conviction bolsters his innate leadership skills, particularly his ability to guide people to work together in service of the greater good.

But his greatest gift might actually be leading by example. In his day-to-day life, he reveals how seemingly ordinary situations can be handled with compassion, dedication, and care. For him, even the smallest daily choices and actions – from how he spends his weekend to what he says to a coworker who is struggling – can become an opportunity to lead the way to a brighter future.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Strength

  • Receptive – He has strong opinions, but he is far from closed-minded. He recognizes the importance of allowing others to express themselves fully. Even when he doesn’t agree with someone, he recognizes that person’s right to voice their truth.
  • Reliable – Few things bother him more than the prospect of letting down a person or cause that he believes in. He can be counted on to see his promises and responsibilities through – even when it’s difficult to do so.
  • Passionate – He is far from being boring do-gooders. He brims with interests, and he takes great pleasure in pursuing his hobbies – dancing, hiking, reading, or cooking,  As a result, he rarely finds themselves at a loss for something interesting to do.
  • Altruistic – He has a deep desire to be a force for positive change, and he genuinely believes that if they bring people together, they can do a world of good.
  • Charismatic – Determined and inspiring, He often finds his way into leadership roles. Whether he is the captain of the softball team or a leader in the fight for equality he rarely loses sight of his main goal: to be of service to others.

Weaknesses

  • Unrealistic – He puts pressure on himself to right every wrong that they encounter. But no matter how hard he strives, it just isn’t realistic for him to solve all of the world’s problems. If he isn’t careful, they can spread himself too thin – and be left unable to help anyone.
  • Overly Idealistic – He tends to have clear ideas about what’s right and what’s wrong. He often thinks that everyone shares these fundamental principles – or, at least, that everyone should share these principles. So it can come as a genuine shock to him when people violate their core values, such as truth or justice.
  • Condescending – He enjoys teaching others, particularly about the causes and beliefs that matter so much to him.  But, at times, his attempts to “enlighten” others may come across as patronizing – not the most effective strategy for persuading other people, unfortunately.
  • Intense – When it comes to self-improvement, he is rarely short on energy or determination. But he may not recognize that not everyone shares these qualities. At times, he may push others to make changes that they aren’t ready for – or simply aren’t interested in making in the first place.
  • Overly Empathetic – Compassion is among his greatest strengths. But he has a tendency to take on other people’s problems as his own – a habit that can leave them emotionally and physically exhausted.

Romantic Relationships

He can be intense when it comes to matters of the heart – and he wouldn’t have it any other way. He rarely settles for anything that falls short of his ideals, and his romantic relationships are no exception.

He wants to fall in love with the content of a person’s character and the tenor of their soul – not just the way they look from across the room.

Although he may come across as outgoing or even a bit flirtatious, he isn’t satisfied by fleeting attractions. His standards are high, he knows it. In fact, this awareness gives him a deeper appreciation of just how rare and precious it is to feel a real spark with another person – and, in turn, just how rare and special it is when that spark grows into the steady flames of true, abiding love.

Moving Beyond the Dating Game

When he falls for someone, like Yure, he falls hard – and he’s not coy about it. He readily expresses how he feels, so he often finds himself making the first move, rather than playing games or waiting for reassurance that the other person feels the same way.

Dreaming Together

Even on the first date, he steered the conversation toward weightier topics. He didn’t want to just find out what TV shows Yuri watched, he wanted to get a sense of his potential partner’s dreams and aspirations, the changes he hoped to make to himself and to the world. And as the relationship deepened, he took pride in supporting him to make good on these dreams.

There are few people who are keener than Cel is to establish a loving commitment with his chosen partner. He took dating and relationships seriously. Even in the earliest days of their relationship, he tended to focus on long-term potential, and as the relationship matured he wanted and wants to do what it takes to bring that potential to fruition.

FRIENDSHIPS

Connecting with other people makes him feel alive and purposeful. It’s no surprise, then, that he is anything but apathetic about friendship. He puts sincere, dedicated effort into staying close with his friends. For him, friendships are far from expendable or insignificant – instead, they’re a key component of a life well-lived

He sincerely desires to get to know people. For him, discovering someone’s quirks and opinions and hopes and follies is one of life’s purest pleasures. He can’t help but be fascinated by other worldviews, even those with which they wholeheartedly disagree. Encountering a wealth of perspectives is what keeps life interesting for him

It is with these closest friends that he truly opens up, sharing his vulnerabilities and his most precious dreams for his life. He maintains warm, caring, and supportive connections with many people, but he tends to show his full self – including his insecurities – only to an inner circle of friends who have earned his trust.

Through Thick and Thin

He can be among the best friends anyone could wish for. He is kindhearted and trustworthy, and he can dedicate incredible amounts of energy and attention to his friendships. He wants his friends to feel not merely validated but supported, not merely heard but understood.

Finding Balance

While he enjoys lending a helping hand, he isn’t always happy with the results. The truth is that some people don’t have the energy or the drive to take full advantage of his offers of help – or they simply might not want to. For example, his friend might ignore that resume advice, or they might decide to kick back and relax instead of using that new resume to send out job applications.

When this happens, he may feel unappreciated, frustrated, or resentful. He may even become judgmental in an effort to push his friend forward – an approach that all too often backfires.

Paradoxically, having a more flexible attitude can guide him to support the people he cares about even more effectively. The most enduring friendships are based not only on mutual growth but also on acceptance, compassion, and genuine respect.

Powers and skills

Cel is a mystic and something of a scholar He is highly intelligent (23)and has been a serious student since when he was in what humans would call high school. So, he has picked up a lot of knowledge about a wide variety of subjects from the esoteric to the useful.  He speaks a half dozen languages fluently and knows enough of another three or four others to get by in a pinch.

He was something of a bookworm growing up, but the books he studied weren’t always ordinary books.  They were books that delved into the arcane.

He is a natural empath and can sense people’s emotions and he first thought he was going to hone those skills and focused his attention in that realm.  But then, he discovered something far more interesting and powerful.  Something that had been hidden since Lemuria was an island floating on the sea.  The power to control the weather.

He can create shape and manipulate weather in a given area.

This includes the ability to generate various natural phenomena or control the intensity of the weather in highly concentrated are like inside a  room.

He has life support for the cold and pressures of the deep but is susceptible to fire damage.

Additionally, he must immerse himself in water for an hour a day.  Usually, that would be in a swimming pool, hot tube, even a bathtub.  But a shower works in a pinch.

Family:

Father  Kaline Dularan

Mother: Mirian Dularan (Atlantean)

Brothers Dunde Dularan, Joralf Dularan

Sisters: Peri Dularan Sennin Dularan. Alana Dularan

History:

Celegion’s mother Miriam is from the nation of Atlantis. Her family, the Winters were not royalty, but they were among the nobility.  She grew up in the lap of luxury, but she didn’t grow up spoiled.  There was an expectation for her, and her siblings to carry out her duty to her family and her country.  Being naturally gregarious she chose to become an envoy.

She was sent to Earth for three years, and after a successful time there she was sent to Lumeria for another three-year mission.  The people there were far more aloof and standoffish when it came to dealing with other races, even ones close to them in nature. But her charm, pestilence, and perhaps a bit of innate magical power, began to win them over.

Despite setbacks, she would not give up. This won their collective, though at first grudging respect and eventually they opened up trade negotiations.  Someone else took notice as well a  warrior and member of the royal family, brother to the king,  named Kaline.  The two could not have had more different personalities.  Yet he had taken notice of her and did the bravest thing he had done in quite some time.  He approached and engaged her in conversation.

One thing led to another and soon they were engaged in a rather torrid affair.  At first, it was merely physical.  Neither was interested in it being anything more at first. But the heart wants what the heart wants, even though the mind might not be aware of it.  Eventually, the lust turned to love, or at least love was added to the lust.

They would wed and form a family. Dunde was their firstborn, then came a daughter who they named Peri.  Celegion was their next child born on June 2, 1992. and they would go on to have four more.

There were, of course, some in the Lumerian kingdom that disapproved but for the most part, the people were either neutral or accepting.  At least the adults were.  The youth were a different story. So most of the Dularan children had to deal with bullies.

From a very early age, Celegion had a warm and engaging personality. While his other siblings were quick to use fisticuffs, Celegion’s first response was to use his silver tongue, a gift for diplomacy, and an innate ability to pick up on others’ emotions and surface thoughts. That didn’t mean he always walked away without getting or giving a bloody nose but that was never his first choice.

One of his primary struggles early on was the two cultures he was raised in.  His parents were always loving and encouraging and were there for him and the rest of his brothers and sisters. It was more an internal battle. But he was a pretty adaptable kid so he overcame it for the most part.  Another was that his uncle the king, or emperor as he called himself was an egomaniac who was cruel and vindictive.  Cel was not blind and while royalty, nobles, and the wealthy were treated with respect and courtesy, the same could not be said about those of lesser station.  Their lot was an uncomfortable one at best.

He wasn’t especially strong but he was agile and a quick learner.

He learned to read at age five and by the time he was eight was reading at an Earth equivalent high school level.  He was a voracious reader, and while he enjoyed playing and swimming around like most of the other children, he sometimes had to be nudged to get out of the house or library.

He was always a good student, especially in subjects that interested him, and never really struggled much to get good grades.  By the time he was fifteen he had become a student of the arcane, though at first, it was only one of a number of interests.  It was also about that time that he started dating girls.

He was a bit of an odd duck among his peers as they were bragging about their exploits(some real, some made up) about the opposite sex. He had no desire to hear their stories and even less to tell stories of his own.  Perhaps that was because, no matter how much he tried, he couldn’t generate much interest in those encounters.  While others were engaging in intercourse he hadn’t moved beyond the kissing stage and even that did little for him.

Then he met Kaius.  A boy.  They were friends at first that shared a similar interest in books and cooking.  But it didn’t take long for them to learn they were attracted to each other and it was like a light bulb went off in Cel’s head as he realized that he was what humans would call gay.

This wasn’t exactly forbidden in Lumerian culture, but it wasn’t looked on favorably by any means, so they kept their relationship private.  By the time he was seventeen, he would come out to his family who, since they loved him, was okay with it even if some of them, especially his father didn’t understand it.

Kaius’ father Delian was a wealthy merchant and weapons manufacturer and member of the Cabinet  He was not as accepting about the relationship, which he discovered when he found the two boys in bed together. He forbade it to continue, but Kaius defied his father for a time.  Then one night, he just didn’t show up for a date.  Cel grew worried and approached Delian only to be rebuffed, told to mind his own business and that he would never see his lover again.

He was eighteen by that point and so threw himself into University life.  That meant a lot of studying, he majored in Cross-Cultural studies, praying, and a series of one-night stands.  After a year and a half of that, he decided that that was not the kind of life he wanted to lead and so renewed his study of the arcane.

At first, he was just trying to focus and sharpen his natural empathy, but then one late night, he found a secret passage in the basement of the university library.  In it, he found a series of tomes that dated back to when Lumeria was on the surface, where they could control and manipulate the weather.

He kept the discovery to himself, knowing that it was forbidden fruit.  But still a fruit he devoured.  He would travel to the surface from time to time to practice since it had very limited use under the water.

A month or so, after graduation, he began to feel like he was being followed.  He was careful after that and spent a few restless days and nights looking over his shoulder.  By this time in his studies of the arcane, the books were helpful but no longer necessary.  One night, foolishly, he went to check on them and found them missing.

The authorities were waiting for him.  Had someone betrayed him?  Had he gotten careless?  It really didn’t matter one way or the other.  His tuna was cooked one way or the other. If his parents were not who they were, he might have been executed.  As it was, he was banished and exiled.  That might or might not be the end of it.

Rather than move to his mother’s country, he moved to the surface world.  Surprisingly, his degree was recognized there and he was accepted into the graduate program at the University of Calfornia Irvine California.  It had an excellent International relations program, which was his chosen field of study.

While there he met Yuri, through a mutual friend.   Yuri was a fellow grad student studying botany.  They started out as casual friends at first, but the summer after they both earned their Masters they started dating. As the summer heated up, so did their love life.

They started staying over at each other’s places by the Fall and the next Spring they were officially a couple.  Their relationship continued and continues to grow, though it is far from perfect.  They’ve talked about the possibility of marriage, but so far haven’t taken that step.  Though about a year ago, when Cel asked Yuri to move to New Mexico when he landed an associate professor role there Yuri agreed and is now working for the state conservation department.

It was on their third date that they revealed that they both have superpowers and from time to time have taken on a few villains.
