Tone
The overall tone of the campaign will be serious. There will be opportunities for funny situations to occur. Actions will have consequences.
Storyline
The storyline will be driven off of the characters' backgrounds. Each player is expected to provide a detailed background for their approved character. At this point do not consider Hero game mechanics, just the backgrounds.
Lethality
As a general rule superheroes and villains do not engage in lethal force against one another. Superheroes are expected to the minimum force necessary to capture criminals and terrorists. Superheroes have ended up in Stronghold after killing agents and supervillains when they could have used less force to accomplish the same goal. There are times when lethal force is the only way to stop a supervillain. There are also some supervillains, Dr. Destroyer, Grond, and Monster, which are known, killers. Known killers are often met with maximum force by superheroes and are justified in using whatever force is necessary to thwart those villains.
Kinds of Stories
The stories will include investigative, exploration, stopping villains and villainous organizations, protecting people, and potentially planet-changing events. A wide variety of skills and abilities will be necessary.
